The Siemens Smartron is a locomotive from the locomotive family of the German rail vehicle manufacturer Siemens Mobility, based on the Siemens Vectron model. It was unveiled by Siemens on March 1, 2018. The Smartron is a simplified version of the Siemens Vectron. The locomotive is offered only in a preconfigured version that has already received certification for Germany. Additional approvals have been granted for Romania and Bulgaria. This is intended to reduce costs.
