As part of the presentation of the new Nightjet generation, the 1216 012 was redesigned as an advertising medium for ÖBB's successful night train division. In future, the new Nightjet push-pull trains will be hauled by locomotives from the 1216 Taurus series. 1216 012 is one of the locomotives with an Italian licence and frequently hauled the so-called Brenner ECs from Munich via Innsbruck to Venice.
